Roughrider Electric Cooperative is a nonprofit business. Instead of earning profits, our annual operating margins are allocated to our members receiving service during the year. These margins--revenue in excess of expenses--are based on patronage or total amount paid in. We call them capital credits.
Capital credits are retained as capital to operate the business of the cooperative and are refunded to the members as financial conditions allow and as the bylaw provisions are met.
If you move from the Roughrider service area, please keep us informed of your address in future years. This will allow us to forward payment when the capital credits are refunded for the years of your membership.
If you need more information on capital credits please read our Fall Quarter 2018 Newsletter Newsletter or Contact us with any questions.
Things to remember:
-
Your capital credit allocation statement is not a bill.
-
These amounts are not immediately payable and do not represent cash, but rather your equity in Roughrider Electric Cooperative, Inc.
-
These amounts cannot be applied to your electric bill.
