Need help with heating costs? LIHEAP can help.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible low-income households with home heating and weatherization costs. 

  • Heating assistance
  • Weatherization services (insulation, weather stripping, etc.)
  • Furnace and chimney cleaning
  • Furnace repair and replacement
  • Emergency assistance

Applications are now accepted year-round. 

Community Options can assist with gathering the below information and submit the LIHEAP application to the Human Service Zone Office.

How to Apply

Apply Online

Submit an application on the State of North Dakota's Health & Human Services Department's Self-Service Portal.

Apply Locally

Print an application and return it to the Customer Support Center or in person at your local Human Service Zone office.

Apply by Mail

Submit a request to have an application mailed to you and return it to the Customer Support Center through the State of North Dakota's Health & Human Services Department.
