Wildfire risk has grown sharply across the United States in recent years. For electric utilities, the concern is serious. Dry brush and trees can ignite quickly if they come into contact with power lines, especially when strong winds are present and can drive a fire’s rapid spread.
In response to these rising threats, electric cooperatives are developing comprehensive wildfire mitigation strategies. These plans often include enhanced vegetation management, improvements to system infrastructure and equipment, and, when necessary, public safety power shutoff procedures.

We also rely on updated mapping systems and real‑time weather monitoring to anticipate shifting conditions.
