About Us
Roughrider Electric Cooperative is a distribution electric utility serving customers in Billings, Dunn, Mercer, Oliver, Stark, and Golden Valley counties. Headquartered in Hazen, North Dakota. Roughrider Electric serves more than 6,400 members, providing electric service to over 10,000 meters. Roughrider Electric operates transmission and sub-transmission at 115, 69, 57 and 41.6 KV and overhead and underground distribution at 24.9 & 12.47 KV. We own 5,124 miles of distribution and transmission lines across the counties.
As a cooperative, we are owned by the members we serve and are governed by a nine-member Board of Directors who are elected by the membership.
Roughrider Electric is a member of and purchases power through Upper Missouri Generation & Transmission Cooperative, Sidney, MT. Basin Electric Power Cooperative, our major power supplier. We also purchase power from Western Area Power Administration. We belong to the nationwide network of electric cooperatives known as Touchstone Energy.
